A Victorian house that needed general renovation and expansion.
The project included planning, construction and general renovation and, of course, the design and styling of the entire house. The family, numbering 5 people, asked for a bright and modern house that would contain work areas, a utility room and an open space that includes a large kitchen, dining area and family corner.
In a joint decision with the customers, we have preserved some of the original features of the house like the tiles floor in the entrance and the cornice works in the ceiling which preserves the Victorian charm and creates an interesting combination of old and new.
St John's Wood Penthouse
This project was fully designed, renovated, and managed for an overseas client, for whom this serves as a second home in London.
As the client lives abroad, I oversaw every aspect of the project on their behalf. They visited London for just a few days to select their preferred finishes and furniture, while I managed the entire process from concept through to completion.
The 220 sqm penthouse is located on St John’s Wood High Street within a Grade I listed building overlooking Regent’s Park. The apartment was completely renovated and styled to revitalise the interiors while carefully respecting the building’s historic character. The design blends boho-chic warmth with modern sophistication through layered textures, natural materials, and eclectic accents. A new kitchen and four bathrooms were designed and installed to enhance both functionality and flow. The four bedrooms, two of which are en-suite, feature bespoke Italian wardrobes, with two bedrooms designed with walk-in closets. The original wooden flooring was sanded and refinished in a lighter tone to brighten the interiors and create a more open, airy atmosphere. Installing an air-conditioning system within a Grade I listed building presented a significant challenge, as external units were not permitted. This was resolved by implementing a discreet internal system that provides comfort without compromising the building’s heritage.
The result is a light-filled, relaxed, and elegant home that harmoniously blends historic character with contemporary living, offering refined style and sweeping views across Regent’s Park.
